Ch. 465 1995 LAWS OF MARYLAND
Secretary as meeting certain State standards; requiring medical laboratories to
submit certain reports to the Secretary; authorizing the Secretary to inspect certain
medical laboratories under certain circumstances; allowing the Secretary to set a fee
for the cytology proficiency testing program; defining a license and requiring the
Secretary to issue a letter of exception under certain circumstances; requiring
persons to hold a license issued by the Secretary of DHMH before the person may
offer or perform certain medical laboratory tests or examinations or represent or
service medical laboratories in the State; defining the scope of an exception;
requiring proficiency testing for a laboratory with a license; requiring the Secretary
to adopt certain standards for proficiency testing; prohibiting operation of a medical
laboratory without a license; prohibiting any holder of a license from performing a
complexity of testing not authorized by the license; requiring a certain study;
providing for the effective date of this Act; and generally relating to the regulation
of medical laboratories.
