DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Subsection (b) of this section is amended to delete surplus language.
Article - Business Occupations and Professions

13-101.

.(b) "Certification card" means a card issued by the [Superintendent]
SECRETARY:

(1)     under § 13-406 of this title to an individual certified as a private
detective; or

(2)     under § 13-505 of this title to an individual certified as a security guard.

(e)     "License" means, unless the context requires otherwise, a license issued by the
[Superintendent] SECRETARY to conduct a business to provide private detective
services.

(f)      "Licensed private detective agency" means, . unless the context requires
otherwise, a person who is licensed by the [Superintendent] SECRETARY to conduct a
business that provides private detective services.

(m) ["Superintendent"] "SECRETARY" means the [Superintendent]
SECRETARY of the [Maryland] State Police.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Subsections (b), (e), (f), and (m) of this section are amended to reflect the
status of the head of the Department of State Police as the Secretary of a
principal department of State government in light of Chs. 165 and 166. Acts of
1994 and to delete surplus language.

13-201.

Subject to the provisions of this title, the [Superintendent] SECRETARY is
responsible for the licensing of private detective agencies and the regulation of those
persons who provide private detective or security guard services in the State.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

This section is amended to reflect the status of the head of the Department of
State Police as the Secretary of a principal department of State government in
light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994.

13-202.

(a) In addition to any powers set forth elsewhere, the [Superintendent]
SECRETARY may:

(1) adopt regulations to carry out this title:
