SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is an emergency
measure, is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health and safety, has
been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take effect from the date it is
enacted.

AN ACT concerning

Drug Free School Zones in Baltimore City - Signs - Hot Line Numbers

FOR the purpose of requiring that signs designating drug free school zones in Baltimore
City include certain information; providing for the effective date of this Act; and
generally relating to the information on signs designating drug free school zones in
Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

4-122.

(A)    A county board may adopt regulations requiring the posting of signs
designating the areas within 1,000 feet of public and nonpublic elementary and secondary
schools as "drug free school zones".

(B)     The signs shall:

(1) [be] BE designed in order to provide notice of the provisions of Article
27, § 286D of the Code; AND

(2) (C) IN BALTIMORE CITY, THE ALL NEW AND REPLACEMENT SIGNS
SHALL INCLUDE A HOT LINE NUMBER TO REPORT INFORMATION CONCERNING
SUSPECTED ILLEGAL DRUG ACTIVITY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 30, 1995.
