Ch. 331                                    1995 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(3) The Secretary of State, the President of Historic Annapolis, Inc., and the
Director of the Maryland Geological Survey, or their designees, shall be ex officio
members of the Commission.] THE INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERS ARE THE CHIEF
EXECUTIVE OFFICERS, OR THEIR DESIGNEES, OF THE FOLLOWING INSTITUTIONS:

(I)      THE ACADEMY OF THE ARTS IN EASTON;

(II)    THE BALTIMORE MUSEUM OF ART;

(III)   MARYLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY;

(IV)   THE MARYLAND INSTITUTE, COLLEGE OF ART IN BALTIMORE;

(V)    THE PEABODY INSTITUTE;

(VI)   WALTERS ART GALLERY; AND

(VII)  WASHINGTON COUNTY MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS IN
HAGERSTOWN.

[(4)](3) (I) The State Archivist shall appoint the [non ex officio]
PUBLIC members with the approval of the Governor.

(II) THE STATE ARCHIVIST SHALL SEEK TO INCLUDE
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE HISTORICAL MUSEUMS OF THE STATE AMONG THE PUBLIC
MEMBERS.

[(b) The non ex officio] THESE (III) THE PUBLIC members [of the Commission
shall] serve at the pleasure of the State Archivist.

[(c)](B) From time to time, with the approval of the Governor, the State
Archivist shall designate a PUBLIC member of the Commission to serve as chairman.

9-1019.

(a)     A member of the Commission:

(1)     may not receive compensation; but

(2)     is entitled to reimbursement for expenses under the Standard State
Travel Regulations, as provided in the State budget.

(b)     The Commission may employ a PROFESSIONAL staff, in accordance with the
State budget. THE COMMISSION MAY ALSO CONTRACT FOR A CURATOR AND FOR
THE SERVICES OF THE ARCHIVIST OF THE PEABODY INSTITUTE TO ACT AS
CURATOR OF SOME OR ALL OF THE OBJECTS IN THE PEABODY ART COLLECTION
ONCE THAT COLLECTION BECOMES THE PROPERTY OF THE STATE.

9-1021.

(a) [As to all valuable paintings or other objects of decorative art located in a
public area of any State building in the Annapolis area, except in a State room of the
Governor's Mansion, the Commission shall:]
