DRAFTER'S NOTE:
Subsections (a) and (b) of this section are amended to reflect the status of the
head of the Department of State Police as the Secretary of a principal
department of State government in light of Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994 and
to make a stylistic change.
Article 24 - Political Subdivisions - Miscellaneous Provisions
11-403.
(a) Notwithstanding any other sections of the Business Regulation Article, in
Calvert County any palm reader, fortune-teller, soothsayer or similar person shall apply
to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for a license to carry on business. The license shall be
issued to cover only 3-month periods and the fee shall be $1,000. Prior to the issuance of
the license the applicant must be fingerprinted and photographed by the DEPARTMENT
OF [Maryland] State Police and have a certificate from the [State Police]
DEPARTMENT that their records indicate that the person has never been convicted of a
crime, other than motor vehicle violations.
DRAFTER'S NOTE:
Subsection (a) of this section is amended to reflect the establishment of the
Department of State Police as a principal department of State government by
Chs. 165 and 166, Acts of 1994 and to delete surplus language.
Article 25 - County Commissioners
10B.
(a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this article, the County
Commissioners of Carroll County are authorized and empowered to regulate any public
road, street, avenue, lane, alley or bridge within Carroll County which is not within the
corporate limits of any incorporated city or town and which has not been designated or
maintained as a part of the State or federal highway system or any extension thereof with
respect to:
(6) The speed of any vehicle on any road defined herein as being under the
jurisdiction of the County Commissioners of Carroll County, provided, however, that any
speed regulation adopted by the County Commissioners of Carroll County would not be
legal without first having been recommended by the DEPARTMENT OF [Maryland] State
Police.
