AN ACT concerning

Somerset County - Board of Education - Salary

FOR the purpose of increasing the annual salary of the Chairman and members of the
Somerset County Board of Education by a certain amount; providing that this Act
does not apply to the salary of the incumbent Chairman or members of the
Somerset County Board of Education; and generally relating to the annual salary of
the Chairman and the members of the Somerset County Board of Education.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

3-903.

(a) (1) Annual compensation for the Board is as follows:

(i) Chairman - [$2,000] $3,000

(ii) Member - [$1,800] $2,700

(2) The County Commissioners may provide additional compensation in the
County budget.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Chairman or members of the Somerset County
Board of Education in office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this
Act concerning the salary or compensation of the Chairman and members of the
Somerset County Board of Education shall take effect at the beginning of the next
following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1995.
