1995 LAWS OF MARYLAND

A PERSON THAT IS LICENSED AS A PUBLIC ADJUSTER UNDER THIS SUBTITLE
MAY BE KNOWN AS A "CERTIFIED PUBLIC ADJUSTER".

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new language added to state
expressly that which only was implied in the former law, i.e., the
Commissioner shall issue a license to each applicant who meets the
requirements for the license. It is based on references to the Commissioner
issuing a license in former Art. 48A, § 181(n), the first sentence of (c), and the
first sentence of (f).

Subsection (b) of this section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48A, § 181(m).

10-407. SCOPE OF LICENSE.

(A)     PARTNERSHIP.

A LICENSE ISSUED TO A PARTNERSHIP AUTHORIZES EACH PARTNER
SPECIFIED IN THE LICENSE TO ACT AS A PUBLIC ADJUSTER FOR THE PARTNERSHIP.

(B)     ASSOCIATION.

A LICENSE ISSUED TO AN ASSOCIATION AUTHORIZES EACH MEMBER
SPECIFIED IN THE LICENSE TO ACT AS A PUBLIC ADJUSTER FOR THE ASSOCIATION.

(C)     CORPORATION.

A LICENSE ISSUED TO A CORPORATION AUTHORIZES EACH OFFICER AND
EACH DIRECTOR SPECIFIED IN THE LICENSE TO ACT AS A PUBLIC ADJUSTER FOR
THE CORPORATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from the second sentence of former Art. 48A, § 181(c).

10-408. TERM AND RENEWAL OF LICENSE.

(A)     TERM OF LICENSE.

A LICENSE EXPIRES ON THE FIRST DECEMBER 31 THAT COMES AFTER ITS
EFFECTIVE DATE AND IN AN ODD-NUMBERED YEAR UNLESS IT IS RENEWED FOR A
2-YEAR TERM AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION.

(B)     RENEWAL NOTICE.

AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE A LICENSE EXPIRES, THE COMMISSIONER SHALL
MAIL TO THE LICENSEE, AT THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS OF THE LICENSEE:
