Thomas C. Jones      Be it remembered that the following Bill of sale was
85  from      Ex.d       recorded on the 3.d day of April 1848, To wit:
Tho. C. Jones &       This Indenture made this twenty third day of March
John Jones of Col.     in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and
                                 forty eight, between Thomas C. Jones and John Jones of
Col. Executors of Col. John Jones deceased, both of Dorchester County state of
Maryland of the one part, and Thomas C. Jones of Dorchester County state
of Maryland, of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Thomas C. Jones
and John Jones of Col. Executors as aforesaid, for and in consideration of
the sum of two hundred and seventy dollars, current money of Maryland,
to them in hand paid by the said Thomas C. Jones, at and before the
sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth
grant, bargain & sell unto the said Thomas C. Jones, his Executors,
Administrators and Assigns, one Negro Boy named Jacob and belonging
to the Estate of the aforesaid Col. John Jones, deceased, for the full time or
term of Eleven years from the first day of March Eighteen hundred &
forty eight, that being the period of time the said Jacob has to serve,
at the expiration of which time or term of servitude, the said Negro
Boy Jacob is then to be free.  To have and to hold the said Negro Boy
Jacob unto the said Thomas C. Jones, his Executors, Administrators &
Assigns, to his and their own use and benefit, during all the said time
or term of servitude above mentioned and no longer.  Now the said parties
to this Indenture full agree to all the matters and conditions
set forth in this Indenture or bill of sale.  In Witness whereof
the said Thomas C. Jones and John Jones of Col. as Executors aforesaid,
and Thomas C. Jones aforesaid, have hereunto set their hands
and affixed their seals the day & year first herein before written.

1851 February 19 Deld to Thomas C Jones

State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:  Be it remembered &
it is hereby certified that on this 23.d day of March in the year of
Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight, before me the
subscriber, one of the Justices of the Peace of the state of Maryland,
in and for Dorchester County, personally appeared Thomas C. Jones
and John Jones of Col. Executors of Col. John Jones dec.d aforesaid,
together with Thomas C. Jones, who did Acknowledge the aforegoing
Indenture, or bill of sale to be their Act and deed, according to the
purport, true intent and meaning of the same, and the Acts of
Assembly in such case made and provided:  And at the same time
and place before me the Justice of the Peace aforesaid, personally
