said Justice of the Peace Tho.s C. Jones and John Jones of Col.
Grantees in the said Indenture or bill of sale and made Oath that
the consideration set forth in the said bill of sale is true and
bona fide as therein set forth.  Acknowledged & sworn before

William F. Jones      Be it remembered that the following Bill of
    85   from   Ex.d    sale was recorded on the 3.d day of April 1848.
Tho. C. Jones &      This Indenture made this twenty first day of
John Jones of Col.    March in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight
                                hundred and forty eight between Thomas C. Jones
and John JOnes of Col. Executors of Col. John Jones, deceased, both of
Dorchester County, state of Maryland, of the one part, and William
F. Jones of Town point, Dorchester County state of Maryland, of the other
part, Witnesseth, that the said Thomas C. Jones and John Jones
of Col. Executors as aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum
of one hundred and twenty five dollars, current money of Maryland,
to them in hand paid by the said WIlliam F. Jones, at and before
the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt of which is
hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained & sold, and by
these presents doth grant, bargain & sell unto the said WIlliam
F. Jones, his Execrators, Administrators and Assigns, one negro boy
John, and belonging to the Estate of the aforesaid Col. John Jones
deceased, for the full time or term of Twenty three years from
the twenty first day of March Eighteen hundred and forty eight,
that being the period of time the said John has to serve, at the
expiration of which time or term of servitude the said negro boy
John is then to be free.  To have and to hold the said Negro
Boy John unto the said William F. Jones his Executors, Administrators
and Assigns, to his and their own use and benefit, during
all the said time or term of servitude above mentioned & no longer.
Now the said parties to this Indenture fully agree to all the matters
and conditions set forth in this Indenture or bill of sale.
In Witness whereof the said Thomas C. Jones and John Jones
of Col., as Executors aforesaid and William F. Jones aforesaid,
have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day &
year first herein before mentioned.
