56. and state aforesaid Sworn before Brannock Moore (J P) Henry D. Wright Be it remembered that the following Certificate was Certificate of recorded on the 26.th day of January 1848, To wit: Alce Ann Ex.d Maryland Dorchester County, To wit: I hereby Certify to all 50 manner of persons whom it doth or may concern that being seized and possessed of a certain Negro slave called Alce Ann aged about eight years as Guardian to Turpin W. Neals and being desirous to remove & bring the said Negro slave from Sussex County in the state of Delaware within the State of Maryland and in the County of Dorchester County aforesaid for my own use and benefit and not for sale do make out this Certificate of the same Negro slave agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided. Witness my hand and seal this 26.th Jan.y 1848. Witness H. D. Wright (Seale) Gdn of Turpin W. Neal Maryland Dorchester County, To wit: On the 26.th day of January 1848 the above named Henry D. Wright Guardian of Turpin W. Neal before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that he is a Citizen of the state of Maryland and that he resides in Dorchester County and that the above is a true list of the said Negro Slave and that he hath not removed the said Negro slave into this state and that she is a slave for life to the best of his knowledge. Sworn before Robert Bell J. P. John H. Harris Be it remembered that the following ^Mortgage^ Bill of sale was Paid Ex.d from recorded on the 2.d day of February 1848, To wit: W.m J. Benjamin Know all men by these presents that I William J. Benjamin of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars current money to me in hand paid by John H. Harris of Talbot County and state aforesaid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said William J. Benjamin do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said John H. Harris, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns one sorrel Gelding bought at the sale of the personal Estate of G. W. Noble, one sorrel mare bought at the City of Baltimore, one dark bay Mare bought from B. Tomlinson, and one roan sorrel mare called liss, one Mail Coach and four sets of Harness now and with her; all the afs.d property is now in my possession. To have and to hold the said property aforesaid to the said John H. Harris, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever: And I the said William J. Benjamin for myself, my heirs, executors and Administrators the aforesaid Horses, stage & Harness Deld H Alford 29 July 1848 |
