Nield, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever And I the said Tho.s King Carroll J.r for myself, my heirs, Executors, Administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever claiming under me shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I have hereunto placed my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty seven. Witness James Hammersly Tho.s King Carroll (Seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered that on this thirty first day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace of said state in and for said County personally appeared Thomas King Carroll J.r and Acknowledged the within Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his Act and deed according to the purport, true intent and meaning thereof and the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided. James Hammersly Josiah Carroll Be it remembered that the following BIll of sale 65. from Ex.d was recorded on the 8.th day of January 1848, To wit: Elizabeth H. Robertson {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that I Elizabeth {one dol.} H. Roberson, Adm.r of John Roberson for and in consideration of the sum of Eighteen hundred and ten dollars to me in hand paid by Josiah Carroll have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Josiah Carroll my Negroes hereinafter named that is to say Negro Man Charles aged thirty six years Negro Woman Dinah aged thirty four years, Negro Woman Nutter aged thirty five years, Negro Boy Jeremiah aged thirteen years, Negro Boy Mitchell aged Eleven years, Negro Boy William aged nine years, Negro Girl Catharine aged seven years, Negro Boy Milton aged six years, Negro Boy George M. Dallas aged three years and Negro Infant Girl Mary Elizabeth aged one year; all of the aforesaid Negroes slaves for life and sound in body & mind. To have and to hold the said Negro Man Charles, negro woman Dinah, negro woman Nutter, Negro Boy Jeremiah, Negro Boy Mitchell, Negro Boy William, Negro Girl Catharine, Negro Milton, Negro Boy George M. Dallas and Negro Infant Girl Mary Elizabeth as above bargained and sold unto the said Josiah Carroll, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns against me the said Elizabeth H. Roberson, administratrix of John Roberson deceased my heirs, executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend.
