308. hereby certified that on this first day of January Anno Domini eighteen hundred & fifty one, before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in & for the County aforesaid, personally appears, Anthony C. Thompson, the party bargainor & Vendor in the above instrument of writing, he being known to me to be the party mentioned therein, and doth acknowledge the said instrument of writing to be his act & deed: And also on the same day of personally appears Francis P. Phelps, the bargainee or Vendee, & makes Oath that the consideration expressed in the said instrument of writing was bona fide & truly paid as therein set forth. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand on the day & year first above written. Charles Corkran. Rec.d the 1.st day of January 1851 of Francis P. Phelps the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of sale. Wm Jackson Clk William Frazier Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that Ex.d from 62½ the following Bill of sale was recorded on the Tho. H. Wrightson Adm.r 3.d day of January in the year 1851, To wit: Know all men by these presents, that I, Thomas H. Wrightson, administrator of Joshua Wrightson, of Dorchester County & State of Maryland, for & in consideration of the sum of Five hundred dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by William Frazier, of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, I have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said William Frazier, his heirs & Assigns, the following Negro Man, named, John Allen, aged about twenty five years, slave for life, and sound in body & mind. To have and to hold the said Negro Man named John Allen, aged about twenty five years, as above bargained & sold, unto the said William Frazier, his heirs, executors, Administrators & Assigns, against me, the said Thomas H. Wrightson, Administrators of Joshua Wrightson & hs and my heirs, executors & Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant and forever defend. In testimony whereof I, Thomas H. Wrightson, Administrator of Joshua Wrightson, have hereto set my hand and affixed seal this first day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty one.
