246. Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: on the sixth day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in & for said County, the within named Ulysses Huguenin, and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his act & deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same; and at the same time came before me, Mary Kennard, free Coloured Woman within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true & bona fide as therein set forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of 1846, Chapter 271, made and provided. Acknowledged before & affidavit made before Charles Corkran State of Maryland Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the Ex.d from 65 following Bond was recorded on the 15.th day of April Jere. L. Pattison & others in the year 1850, To wit: {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that {15 cents} we Jeremiah L. Pattison, John W. Travers and John W. Dail, of Dorchester County, are held & firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Three hundred dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid to the said State or its certain Attorney, to the which payment well & truly to be made & done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors & Administrators, in the whole & for the whole, jointly & severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals & dated this fifteenth day of April Eighteen hundred & fifty. Whereas the Commissioners for Dorchester County, by virtue of a supplement to the Act entitled an additional supplement to an Act to regulate Ferries, have contracted with the said Jeremiah L. Pattison & John W. Travers to keep the Ferry over Slaughter Creek from the main to where Henry Travers formerly lived, and agree to allow the said Jeremiah L. Pattison & John W. Travers the sum of Three hundred & twenty dollars, current money, for the same: Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden Jeremiah L Pattison & John W. Travers shall faithfully & diligently keep the said Ferry over Slaughter Creek from the main to where Henry Travers formerly lived from day light to day light from the first of November to the first of March, and from an hour before to an hour after day light for the residue of the year, commencing from the tenth day of May 1850 and ending twelve months thereafter and shall keep constantly and in good order a Scow that will safely carry four passengers & their Horses at one trip, with two able bodied skilful hands to attend the said Ferry, and shall not charge or receive any greater price for ferriage than what is allowed by law, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise of full force & virtue in law Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Jere.
