234. Aaron Warfield, free Negro Be it remembered & it is hereby Certified that the Paid Ex.d from 50 following Bill of sale &c was recorded on the 25.th Thomas Hubbard day of February 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, current money, to me in hand paid by Aaron Warfield, free negro, of same County & State aforesaid, have granted, bargained & sold, unto the said Aaron Warfield, free Negro, his heirs & Assigns, the following Negro, that is to say, Negro Girl named Harriet Ann, aged one year the eighth of May Eighteen hundred and forty nine, to serve untill the aforesaid Negro Girl is eighteen years old and then to be free. To have and to hold the aforesaid Negro Girl as above bargained and sold, unto the said Aaron Warfield, free Negro, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, against me the said Thomas Hubbard (Senior) my heirs, executors and Administrators and against all & every person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof we Thomas Hubbard Senior and Aaron Warfield free Negro have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this Eighteenth day of February Eighteen hundred & fifty Tho.s Hubbard (seal) Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of his Sam.l Abbott Sarah Hubbard Aaron x Warfield, free negro (seal) mark Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this Eighteenth day of February Eighteen hundred & fifty, personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for Dorchester County and state aforesaid, the within named Thomas Hubbard and Aaron Warfield free negro, and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be their Act & deed, according to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same; And at the same came before me, Aaron Warfield, free Negro, within mentioned, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this Bill of sale is true & bonifide as therein set forth according to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided. W.m Jackson & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that we {Six dol.} William Jackson, Thomas Breerwood & James Dixon, of Dorchester County, are held & firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Thirteen thousand three hundred thirty three dollars thirty three & one third cents, current money, to be paid to the said State of Maryland, to the which payment well & truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, our and each of our heirs, executors & administrators, jointly & severally, firmly by these presents.
