227. Elizabeth D. Jones Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that the following Paid from Ex.d Bill of sale was recorded on the 12th day of February Tho Jones of Jn.o in the year 1850, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Jones of John of Dorchester County and state of Maryland, for the consideration of the sum of one dollar, current money, to me in hand paid by Elizabeth D. Jones of the County and state aforesaid, the receipt whereof I do hereby Acknowledge have granted, bargained sold & delivered, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell & deliver unto the said Elizabeth D. Jones, a negro Boy James Webster age about four years, and the said Boy is to serve untill he is thirty five years of age, which said property I will warrant & defend to the said Elizabeth D. Jones, her Executors, Administrators and Assigns against me my Executors Administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our names and affixed our seals this 26.th day of January 1850. his In presence of Thomas x Jones Jr (seal) Tho Jones of W.m James Craig mark her Elizabeth D. x Jones (seal) mark State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this the twenty six day of January 1850, before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County appeared Thomas Jones of Jn.o and acknowledge the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act & deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such case made & provided Acknowledge before James Craig (seal) On the 26 day of January 1850 personally appeared Elizabeth D. Jones and made Oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that the above Bill of sale is ^a^ true & bona fide Bill of sale and the consideration therein mentioned is just and true as set forth in said paper. Sworn before James Craig (seal) Delivered Feb.y 18.th 1850 to Tho. Jones of W.m Reuben Tall Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Ex.d from 70 Bill of sale was recorded on the 11.th day of February 1850, To wit: Ben. B. Harrison Know all men by these presents that I, Benjamin B. Harrison of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, for & in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars and fifty six cents, current money, to me in hand paid by Reuben Tall of the same County and state aforesaid, at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof I, the said Benjamin B. Harrison, do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Reuben Tall, his heirs, executors, Administrators & Assigns, the following Negroes, that is to say, Letitia Simms, aged about twenty one years, Benjamin Simms aged about three years and Ellen Simms aged about five months, slaves for life and sound in body and mind. To have and to hold the said Negroes above bargained Del.d to Reuben Tall 19.t March 1851 |
