183 State of Maryland Be it remembered that the following Bond was Paid from Ex.d recorded on the 7.th day of May 1849, To wit: Kendal Fooks & others {Stamp} Know all men by these presents that we {one dol.} Kendal Fooks, Zacchariah T. Fooks and William Layton, of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, are held & firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and just sum of Two thousand dollars, current money of the United States, to be paid to the said state or its certain Attorney; to the which payment, well and truly to be made & done, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators, jointly & severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals & dated this sixteenth day of April 1849. The Condition of the above Obligation is such that if the above bounden Kendal Fooks shall well & truly execute the Office of Constable, of Vienna district, in all things appertaining thereto, and shall also well & truly warrant for all moneys placed in his hands for collection and shall also well & truly pay all sums of Money received by him on Judgments or otherwise, then the obligation to be void, otherwise of full force & virtue in law. Kendal Fooks (L S) Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Z. T. Fooks (L S) James Hammersly James Higgins his William x Layton (L S) mark Dorchester County, To wit: On the sixteenth day of April 1849, personally appeared before me, the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid, James Higgins & James Hammersly, and made the following Oath, To wit: "We James Higgins & James Hammersly, subscribing witnesses to the above Bond, do make Oath that Kendal Fooks, Zacchariah T. Fooks & W.m Layton, obligors mentioned in the said Bond, did severally in our presence, sign, seal and deliver the said Bond as their act & deed for the purposes therein mentioned." Sworn before me on the day above mentioned Charles Corkran J. P.
