in our presence, sign, seal and deliver the said Bond as their
Act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned.   Given under
my hand this fifth day of June Eighteen hundred and forty
eight.                                    James Hammersly.


Samuel W. LeCompte &      Be it recorded that the following
E. R. Hooper                        Deed of Mortgage was recorded on the 5.th
          from            Ex.d         day of June 1848, To wit:
B. D. Jackson                        Know all men by these presents that I
                                             Benjamin D. Jackson, for and in consideration
of the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars current
money of Maryland, to me in hand paid by Samuel W. LeCompte
and Ezekiel R. Hooper at and before the ensealing and delivery of
these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the
said Benjamin D. Jackson have granted, bargained, sold, conveyed
and transfered, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell, convey
and transfer unto the said Samuel W. LeCompte and Ezekiel
R. Hooper, their heirs and Assigns forever all the Books comprising
my Law Library, now standing in my office in Cambridge,
of whatsoever kind and description.   To have and to hold the
said Books comprising my Law Library unto the said Samuel
W. LeCompte and Ezekiel R. Hooper, their heirs and Assigns forever,
to them and their sole use and uses forever, against me the
said Benjamin D. Jackson, and all persons whatsoever:   Provided
Nevertheless, and it is the true intent and meaning of these
presents, and of the said parties hereunto, that if the said Benjamin
W. LeCompte and Ezekiel R. Hooper, together with all ^the^ Costs that
have accrued or may accrue, on the same, and shall save the said
Samuel W. LeCompte and Ezekiel R. Hooper from all costs, damages
and charges on account of said Judgments, then these presents & every
matter and thing herein contained shall cease and be utterly null
and void, any thing herein contained to the contrary in anywise Notwithstanding.
In Witness whereof the said Benjamin D. Jackson
has hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this thirtieth
day of May Eighteen hundred and forty eight.
Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of
                Charles Corkran                              B. D. Jackson   (Seal)

Maryland, Dorchester County ss.  on this 31.st day of May 1848,
Benjamin D. Jackson personally appeared before the subscriber
