Dorchester County, To wit:  On the 17.th day of April 1848, personally
appeared before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace in and
for the County aforesaid, James Hammersly and James Higgins &
made the following Oath, to wit:  "We James Higgins & James
Hammersly, subscribing witnesses to the above Bond, do make Oath
that John Tyler, John W. Hayward and Barzillai Slacum, Obligors
mentioned in the said Bond, did severally, in our presence, sign,
seal and deliver the said Bond, as their act and deed, for the
purposes therein mentioned."  Sworn before me on the day above mentioned.

State of Maryland            Be it remembered that the following Bond was
          from         Ex.d      recorded on the 17.th day of April 1848, To wit:
Charles Shenton & others   {Stamp}   Know all men by these presents that we
                                         {one dol.}  Charles Shenton, Bananman Mills & Leonard
Booze, of Dorchester County and state of Maryland, are held & firmly bound unto
the state of Maryland, in the full and just sum of two thousand dollars,
current money of the United States, to be paid to the said state or its attorney;
to the which payment well and truly to be made & done, we
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and Administrators, jointly & severally,
firmly by these presents.  Sealed with our seals & dated this 17.th day of April
1848.   The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the
above bounden Charles Shenton shall well and truly execute the Office
of Constable in Election district number N.o five, in Dorchester County
in all things appertaining thereto, and shall also well & truly
pay all sums of money received by him, then the above obligation to
be void, otherwise of full force and virtue in law.
