the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Mary
Thomas do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Thomas his heirs executors
administrators and assigns my negro boy Abraham Charles aged
about three years and now in the possession of him the said John Thomas to have
and to hold the said coloured boy above bargained and sold or intended so to be
to him the said John Thomas his heirs executors administrators and assigns and
I the said Mary Thomas for myself my heirs executors and administrators the
said coloured boy Abraham Charles unto him the said John Thomas his heirs
executors administrators and assigns against me the said Mary Thomas my
heirs executors and administrators and against all and every other person
and persons whatever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these
presents  In witness whereunto I have set my hand and seal this fourth
day of March Anno Domini 1843                            his

State of Maryland Dorchester County sct   Be it remembered and it
is hereby certified that on this fourth day of March in the year AD 1843 before
me the subscriber one of the justices of the peace of the State of Maryland in
and said County personally appears Mary Thomas She being Know to me
to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be a party
to the foregoing instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the said indenture
or instrument of writing to be her act and deed   In testimony whereof
I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

Thos R Smith           Be it remembered that the following bill of sale was recorded
Ex.d  from                on the 6 March 1843 to wit   Know all men
Wm McClayland      by these presents that I William McClayland of Dorchester
County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty
dollars current money to me in hand paid by Thomas K Smith of the county
and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents
the receipt whereof I the said William McClayland do hereby acknowledge
have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain
and sell unto the said Thomas K Smith his executors administrators and
assigns all the goods hereinafter particularly mentioned that is to say two
Beds & furniture sevin chairs one carpet one Mahogana Table and stand
one pr andirons & tongs two waiters one oven one spider two pots one tea
Kettle one bay mare one Colt two Cows two heifers seventeen hogs crop of
wheat seeded one ox cart Top and blade fodder two ploughs & two harrows
all and singular which said goods and chattels are now
