76 in hand paid by the sd Levin Griffin I have bargained & sold to sd Levin Griffin & by these presents do grant bargain & sell to him the following property to wit one negro man slave for life named "Harry Holla one Ditto "Charles Camper" one negro woman slave for life named "Nuster" one negro slave for live named Jerry one negro girl slave for life named "Harriett" & one negro boy slave for life named "Milton" To have & to hold the said property to the sd Levin Griffin & his heirs & assigns forever with this proviso that if the s.d John Roberson or his agent heirs executors or administrators do and shall well truly pay to s.d Levin Griffin or his heirs executors or administrators or assigns the amount of the above specified Judgement interest & costs on or before the 1st day of January 1844 then this Bill of sale to be null and void else of full force virtue in law Witness my hand & seal this 25.th February 1843 signed sealed and delivered John Roberson (seal) in the presence of Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit On this 25th Feby 1843 personally appears before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said state & county John Roberson and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act & Deed for the purposes therein mentioned Charles Corkran Jo Cornwell Be it remembered that the following Bill of sale was Ex.d from recorded on the 27 Feby 1843 to wit Know all men by Levin Petty these presents that I Levin Petty of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid by Joel Cornwell of County & state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Levin Petty do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said Joel Cornwell his executors administrators an assigns 2 Red & all the furniture thereto attached 2 bedsteads 6 chairs 1 sett Knives 1 forks 1 Lott worden ware 1 tea kettle 1 Pot 1 spider 1 Table 1 Lott earthen ware and all the balance of my household & Kitchen furniture all and singular which said goods and chattles are now remaining standing and being in the House and on the farm of Jas K Lewis on Nanticoke river where said Petty now resides and now in the occupation of the said Levin Petty To have and to hold all and singular the said goods household stuff and furniture and other the premises above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Joel Cornwell his executors administrators & assigns forever and I the said Levin Petty for myself my heirs executors and administrators |
