63 Maryland Dorchester County Sc On this sixteenth day of January eighteen hundred and forty three personally appears before the subscriber a justice of the peace for the state and County aforesaid and acknowledges the above Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and delivered the same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned according to the acts of assembly in such case made and provided Acknowledged before Joel Cornwell J.P. Charlotte Pattison Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was Ex.d from recorded 31 Jany 1843 to wit Maryland Dorchester Samuel Traverse and County to wit Know all men by these presents William K. Travers that we Samuel Travers and William K Travers Executor of Matthias Travers deceased of Dorchester County for and in Consideration of the sum of three Hundred dollars current money to us in hand paid by Charlotte Pattison of the County aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Charlotte Pattison her Executors administrators and assigns one negro boy James to serve twenty years from the first day of June 1843 agreeabky to the last will and testament of Matthias Travers proved and Enrolled in the Register of Wills office of the County aforesaid in the year Eighteen Hundred and thirty Eight To have and To hold the same described negro above bargained and sold to the said Charlotte Pattison his executors administrators and assigns for the time he hath to serve to her and their non use and benifit In testimony whereof we the said Samuel Travers and William K Travers Executors aforesaid and the said Charlotte Pattison purchaser have hereto set their hands and affixed their seals the seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord 1843 Signed Sealed and delivered Samuel Travers (seal) in the presence of William K. Travers (seal) Maryland Dorchester Charlotte H Pattison (seal) County to wit on this seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord 184 then came before me a Justice of the peace in and for Dorchester County Samuel Travers and William J Travers and Charlotte Pattison and acknowledged the within and aforegoing Bill of Sale to be their act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Levi D Travers John Bradshaw Be it remembered that the following bill of sale Ex.d from was recorded on the 31 Jany 1843 to wit Joseph R Stewart This indenture made this thirty day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three between Joseph R Stewart of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland of the one part and |
