acknowledges the foregoing within writing to be his act and deed
according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the Act of
Assembly in such case made & provided before

Ann Hurst      Be it remembered that the following Bill of sale was
Ex.d   from     recorded on the 18.th day of January 1847, To wit:
Levin Jones    Know all men by these presents that I Levin Jones J. P.
                      Executor of Stephen Hurst for and in consideration of
the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Ann
Hurst have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant,
bargain and sell unto the said Ann Hurst my negroes named Nathan
aged four years next may free January 1.st 1872 and woman Caroline
to be free January 1 1850 Servants for the terms aforesaid and sound
in body and mind   To have and to hold the said negroes boy
Nathan and Caroline for the terms afs.d as above bargained & sold
unto the said Ann Hurst, her heirs, Executors, Administrators and
Assigns against me the said Levin Jones J. P. Executor aforesaid my
heirs, executors and Administrators and against all and every other
person or persons claiming by, from, or under said demand.  In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my
seal this first day of January 1847.

State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit:  On this first
day of January 1847 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace
in and for said County and state personally appeared Levin Jones J. P.
Executor and Ann Hurst and Acknowledged the above Bill of sale or
instrument of writing to be their Act and deed according to the
true intent and meaning thereof.   Acknowledged before

James A. Stewart         Be it remembered that the following Messuage
Ex.d      from   Paid      Bill of sale was recorded on the
George H. Wingate      20.th day of January 1847, To wit:
                                    Know all men by these presents that I George
H. W. Wingate of Dorchester County for and in consideration of
the sum of one hundred and ninety nine dollars to me in
hand paid by James A. Stewart of said County have granted,
bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain
and sell unto the said James A. Stewart, his heirs, Ex.rs, Adm.rs
