Alexander H. Bayly      Be it remembered that the following Deed
Paid   Ex.d       to         of Manumission was recorded on the 11.th day
Robert Elsey Kerr        of September 1846, To Wit:
                                    To all whom it may concern Be it known that
I Alexander H. Bayly of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for
divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released
from slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free and by these
presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free
my negro man named Robert Elsey Kerr being of the age of twenty
eight years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood &
maintenance and him the said negro man named Robert Elsey Kerr
I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted and discharged from
all manner of service or servitude to me, my Executors or Administrators
forever.  In Witness whereof I the said Alexander H.
Bayly have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of September
in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty six
Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of us
Robert Bell      Josiah Bayly J.r                              Alex H. Bayly  (Seal)

Dorchester County, To wit:  Be it remembered that on this ninth
day of September Eighteen hundred and forty six personally appears
Alexander H. Bayly party to the within instrument of writing
before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of
Maryland for the said County and Acknowledges the same to be
his Act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the
negro man within mentioned or named to wit Robert Elsey
Kerr to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all
services to him or to any person or persons claiming under him
and to be free and manumitted according to the Act of
Assembly in such Cases made & provided
Acknowledged before                        Robert Bell   J. P.


Levin Seward                    Be it Remembered that the following Bill of
     from      x.d                  Sale was recorded on the 17.th day of September
James Wheatley Negro      Anno Domini 1846 To wit
Know all men by these presents that I James Wheatley of Dorchester County
and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Twenty
Dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Levin Seward of the aforesaid
County and State at and before the Sealing and delivering of these presents
the receipt whereof I the said James Wheatley do hereby Acknowledge,
have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant
bargain and Sell unto the said Levin Seward his executors, Administrators
