357 instrument of writing to be his Act and deed according to the Acts of Assembly in such case made & provided. Acknowledged before Horatio Hughes J. P. John Rowins Be it remembered that the following Deed of Ex.d to Manumission was recorded May 11.th 1846, To wit: Sundry Negroes To all whom it may concern be it known that I John Rowins of Dorchester County state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of the sum of six dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery, liberated, manumitted & set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my negro woman named Hetta being of the age of forty two years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me, my Executors or administrators forever And also at the same time by these presents I do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my negro Girl named Nancy (daughter of the above named Hetta) at the age of thirty years old now nineteen years of age and also her posterity if any during her slavery is to go free males at the age of thirty five and females at the age of thirty years of age The above named Nancy's term of service will end on the 31 day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven. And also at the same time by these presents I do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my negro woman named Caroline (who came out of the estate of W.m H Chugum late of Talbot County) at the age of thirty years old now twenty years of age and also her posterity if any during her slavery is to go free males at the age of thirty five and females at the age of thirty years of age The above named Caroline's term of service is to end on the 31 day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven. And also at the same time by these presents I do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my negro Boy James (son of the within named Hetta) being of the age of Eleven years to be free at the age of thirty five years which will be in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy at end of December of said year. And also at the same time by these presents I do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my negro Girl Mary Dashield |
