325. the receipt whereof we the said Samuel M.cCollester, Henry W. Hicks and Martin M. Dean do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said James Hutchinson, his Executors, administrators and assigns one Negro Woman named Julian Hardcastle about twenty two years of age a slave for life To have and to hold the said Negro Woman above bargained and sold to the said James Hutchinson, his Executors, administrators and assigns forever: And we the said Samuel M.cCollester, Henry W. Hicks and Martin M. Dean for ourselves, our executors, administrators the said Negro Woman unto the said James Hutchinson his Executors, administrators and assigns against us the said Samuel M.cCollester, Henry W. Hicks and Martin, our Executors, administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and defend by these presents the said Negro Woman. In Witness whereof ^we^ the said Samuel M.cCollester, Henry W. Hicks and Martin M. Dean have this the twenty second day of November Anno Domini 1845 his Signed, sealed & delivered Samuel x McCollester (Seal) in the presence of mark Nimrod Newton H. W. Hicks (Seal) Martin M. Dean (Seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County Sct. Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this twenty second day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the said County personally appears Samuel M.cCollester, Henry W. Hicks and Martin M. Dean and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale to be their act and deed and the Negro Woman therein named to be the right and estate of James Hutchinson according to the Acts of Assembly in such cases made & provided. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day & year aforesaid Nimrod Newton Bill of Sale del.d to James Hutchinson March 5.th 1855 Robert Burton Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale Paid from Ex.d was recorded on the 15.th day of December 1845, to wit: William Meekins Know all men by these presents that I William Meekins of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred & eighty dollars to me in hand paid by Robert Burton of Lovey of the County and state aforesaid have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the aforesaid Robert Burton of Lovey, his heirs & assigns forever one Horse, Three Steers, fifteen Hogs, one Ox Cart, one Plough |
