278 neck to Hoopers Island from day light to day light from the first of November to the first of March and from an hour before to an hour after day light for the residue of the year commencing the first day of May 1845 and ending twelve months thereafter and shall keep constantly and in good order a Boat or scow that will safely carry three passengers and their Horses at one trip with one able bodied skilful hand to attend the said Ferry and shall not charge or receive any greater prices for ferriage than what is allowed him by law then the above obligation to be void otherwise of force. Dunnock (seal) State Be it remembered that the following Bond was recorded from Ex.d on the 22.d day of April 1845, To wit: John Reed & others Know all men by these presents that we John Reed Jacob Wilson and William L. Drura of Dorchester County are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of three hundred dollars current money of the United States to be paid and done we bind ourselves our heirs executors & Administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 21 day of April 1845. Whereas the Commissioners of Dorchester County by virtue of a supplement to the Act entitled An Additional supplement to the Act entitled an Act to regulate Ferries have contracted with the said John Reed to keep the Ferry over the North West Fork of the Nanticoke commonly called "Crotches Ferry" and agree to allow the said John Reed the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars current money for the same Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden John Reed shall faithfully & diligently keep the said Ferry over the North West Fork of Nanticoke river commonly called the Crotches Ferry from day light to day light from the first of November to the first March and from an hour before to an hour after light for the residue of the year commencing on the first day of May 1845 & ending twelve months thereafter and shall keep constantly & in good order a scow that will safely carry six passengers and their Horses at one trip with an able bodies and skilful hand to attend to the Ferry aforesaid and shall not change or receive any greater prices for ferriage than what is allowed by law then the above obligation to be void otherwise of force his Signed, Sealed and delivered Jn.o x Reed (seal) in the presence of mark Jn.o Newton William Mears Jacob Wilson (seal) W.m L.
