257 Mary Ennalls Be it remembered that the following Manumission was Paid to Ex.d recorded on the 2.d day of January 1845, To wit: Negro Philemon To all whom it may concern. Be it remembered that I Mary Ennalls of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have liberated and set free from from and after the first day of January in the year of Our Lord eighteen hundred and forty five; And by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate and manumate & set from my Negro Man Phillamon being of the age of thirty five years in the month of May next; and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said Phillamon I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or services to me my heirs, executors or administrators forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 24.th day of December in the year of Our Lord eighteen hundred and forty four. Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Charles Corkran Josiah Bayly J.r Mary Ennalls (Seal) Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered that on this 24.th day of December in the year of Our Lord eighteen hundred and forty four personally appeared the party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and the said County and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within named. Taken and acknowledged before Charles Corkran Henry Phillips Be it remembered that the following Bill of Ex.d from sale was recorded on the 6.th day of Jan.y 1845, Thomas Brannock To wit: Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Brannock of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for the consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty five dollars current money to me in hand paid by Henry Phillips of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained, and sold, and delivered and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and deliver unto the said Henry Phillips, my negro female slave named Sophia Webb aged eighteen years which said Slave Sophia Webb I will warrant & defend to the said Henry Phillips, his executors, administrators and assigns against me my executors and administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this third day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty five.
