229 Thomas & W.m Andrews Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale from Ex.d was recorded on the 9.th day of May 1844, To wit: William Adams Know all men by these presents that I William Adams of L of Dorchester County and state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid by Thomas and William Andrews of W of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Thomas and William Andrews of W their heirs executors administrators and assigns my negro woman and two children slaves for life namely Patience Aaron and Dorothy which said slaves Patience Aaron and Dorothy as above bargained and sold to the said Thomas & William Andrews of W their heirs executors administrators and assigns forever to them and their only proper use and benefit And I the said William Adams of L for myself my heirs executors and administrators shall & will warrant and forever defend by these presents to the said Thomas & William Andrews of W their executors administrators and assigns the above described slaves against me my executors administrators and against all and every person or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 29.th day of Dec.r 1843. Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Clement McNamara William Adams (Seal) Maryland Dorchester County To wit: On this 29.th day of December 1843 before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County appears William Adams of L and acknowledges the foregoing writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such case made & provided Clement McNamara Manumission Be it remembered that the following Manumission was recorded W.m T. Richardson on the 20.th day of June 1844, To wit: to Ex.d To all whom it may concern be it known that I William T. Richardson Perry Mitchell Negro of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes & considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my negro man named Perry Mitchell being of the age of thirty six years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Perry Mitchell I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me, my executors or administrators forever.
