202. dollars to me in hand paid by Henry Meekins have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Henry Meekins my Negroes named Minty, a slave untill she arrives to the age of thirty one years and her child John Hickson a slave for life and sound in body and mind to have and to hold the said Negroes Minty and John Hickson as above bargained and sold unto the said Henry Meekins his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against me the said William A. Slacum my ^heirs^ executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this tenth day of April 1844 Test D. W. Tyler William A. Slacum (seale) State of Maryland County To wit: on this 10.th day of April 1844 before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the said County and state personally appeared William A. Slacum and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before D. W. Tyler William L. Hearn Be it remembered that the following Certificate was recorded Certificate of on the 13.th day of April 1844. To wit: Negroes x.d State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: I hereby certify to all manner of persons whom it doth or may concern that being seized of possessed of certain Negro Slaves by the names following that is to say a Boy named John Dier aged about twenty years a woman named Ann Maria aged about twenty four years and a Girl named Jane aged about sixteen years and being desirous to remove and bring the said negroes from the state of Delaware within this state for my own use and benefit and not for sale do make out this Certificate of the said Negroes agreeably to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided Witness my hand and seal this 13.th day of April 1844 Test Tho H. Hearn appears before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County & State aforesaid and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that he is a citizen of the state of Maryland and resides in Dorchester County and that the above is a true and faithful list of the said Negro Slaves and that he hath not removed the same into this state for the purpose of sale and that they are slaves for life to the best of his knowledge Sworn before John G.
