186 Eighteen hundred and forty four signed, sealed & delivered Robert Bell (Seal) in the presence of James Rea State of Maryland, Dorchester County To wit: on this 18.th January 1844 before me one of the Justices of the Peace in and for said County appears Robt Bell and acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided Taken and acknowledged before James Rea Sally Dunnock Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was from Ex.d recorded on the 19.th day of January 1844, To wit: Elijah Tunis Know all men by these presents that I Elijah Tunis sen.r of Dorchester County on the State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars to me in hand paid by Sally Dunnock wife of John Alexander Dunnock of said County Have granted, bargained & sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the aforesaid Sally Dunnock her heirs and assigns forever one negro Boy John about five years old. To have and to hold the above mentioned or named Negro Boy John unto the said Sally Dunnock her heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit and behoof of the said Sally Dunnock her heirs and assigns forever. As Witness my hand and seal this fourth day of January Eighteen hundred and forty four signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of his James Smith Elijah x Tunis (Seal) Maryland, Dorchester County To wit: on this 4.th day of January 1844 Personally appeared Elijah Tunis sen.r before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for said County and acknowledged the above Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning of the same. Acknowledged before James Smith Joseph Flint's Be it remembered that the following Certificate was recorded Certificate of on the 19.th day of January 1844. To wit: Negro Phebe State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: I Joseph Flint of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland do hereby certify to all manner of persons whom it doth or may concern being possessed of a negro Girl slave called Phebe aged about twelve years and being desirous to remove and bring the said Negro Slave called Phebe from the State of Delaware within this state for my own use and benefit and not for sale do make out this certificate of the Negro Girl called Phebe agreeably to the act of Assembly in |
