162. Charles Tubman Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was from Ex.d recorded on the 19.th day of October 1843 To wit: Mark N. Marshall Maryland ss.t Know all men by these presents that I Mark N. Marshall of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of about four hundred and fifty dollars owing by me to Charles Tubman and in further consideration of the sum of one dollar current money money to me in hand paid by Charles Tubman, I have bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Charles Tubman all the Crop of Corn Blades and Tops and wheat and Oat Straw to which I have any right, title, claim or interest in also thirty bushels of seed wheat and one small Waggon all of which is now standing or remaining on the farm of the said Charles Tubman where I now reside to have and to hold the said Corn, Blades, Tops, wheat and oath straw, 30 Bushels of wheat & small waggon above bargained and sold unto the said Charles Tubman his heirs, executors administrators and assigns against me the said Mark N. Marshall my heirs executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend Provided always and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the said parties hereunto that if the said Mark N. Marshall, his heirs, executors or administrators, do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Charles Tubman the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars current money with legal interest thereon from the date hereof on or before the first day of November Eighteen hundred and forty four without any deduction or abatement whatsoever, then and from thenceforth these presents and every matter and thing therein contained shall cease and be utterly null and void, any thing therein to the contrary thereof in anywise notwithstanding. In witness whereof the said mark N. Marshall hath hereto set his hand and affixed his seal this twelfth day of October Eighteen hundred and forty three Signed, sealed and delivered Mark N. Marshall (Seal) in the presence of Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: on the 12.th day of October 1843 then came before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said County, Mark N. Marshall and acknowledged the within Mortgage Bill of Sale to be his act and deed for the uses and purposes therein mentioned according to the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Benjamin G.
