harrows all which property is now in my possession  To have and to hold the
same described property above bargained and sold to the said Samuel Aaron
his executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper
use and benefit and I the said John Aaron for my self my executors and
administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents
to the said Samuel Aaron his executors administrators and assigns the said
described property against me my executors and administrators and against
all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any
part thereof  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed
my seal the thirteenth day of June Eighteen hundred and forty three

Eighteen Hundred and forty three before me one of the Justices of the peace in and
for said County appears John Aaron and acknowledges the foregoing writing
to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof
and the act of assembly in such case made and provided

Jas A Stewart          Be it remembered that the following mortgage bill
Ex.d      from            of sale was recorded 6 July 1843 to wit
Sally Hawkins          Whereas John Hawkins a slave of James A
Free negro woman   Stewart is my husband & whereas the said Jas
A Stewart has agreed to manumit my said husband John Hawkins
so soon as he the s.d Stewart receives from me the amount that he had
to pay for said slave & an additional sum of fifty dollars for the risk
the said Stewart runs in trying the s.d slave and whereas I take an
interest in the liberation of the same & therefore in the prompt payment of
s.d amount & by way of securing the same to the s.d Stewart in this
matter & also for & in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in
hand paid by the s.d Stewart I do hereby bargain & sell to s.d Stewart
the following property to wit two grey horses & one four wheel carrige &
one small four wheel carriage & one saddle & bridle one cart one wheelbarrow
two yearlings one canoe & part of the Ice in Mr Ray's Ice House
and all my house hold furniture of every description & two hogs
one crop of hay on Mr Page Lot  To have & to hold the said property
to the sd Stewart & his heirs & assigns forever with the proviso that
whenever the s.d Stewart receives from me the s.d amount he is accountable
for on account of the purchase of John & for the risk as aforesaid
then this obligation to be void else of full force & virtue in law witness
my hand & seal this 6th of July 1843                        her
