139 appeared Edward Willy before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning of the said Acknowledged before Henry Shenton Charles James Be it remembered that the following Manumission Fee paid from x.d was recorded 26th June 1843 to wit Lina Molock alias James To all whom it may concern be it Known that I Lina Molock allees James of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland for Divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving as also in further consideration of one dollar Current money to me in hand paid have released from Slavery liberate manmate and & set free and by these presents do herby releas from Slavery liberate manumit and set free my Grand son named Charles James being in his fourteenth year of his age and able to work and gain a Sufficient livelyhood and maintainance and him the said Charles James I do declare to be hencefourth free manumited and discharged from all manner of servitude or services after he arrive to the age of Twenty one years to me my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21st day of June in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred & forty three Signed sealed and delivered his in the presents of us Lina x Molock allias James (seal) William Creighton mark Charles Corkran Dorchester County To wit Be it remembered that on this 21st day of June 1843 Personally appeared Lina Molock (alias) James party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the said County and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed for the purposes within mentioned and the Negro boy named Charles James to be free when he arives to the age of Twenty one years manumited and discharged from all servis to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumited according to the act of Assembly in such case made & Provided Acknowledged before Charles Corkran Deld S. Bradshaw 24 Feby 1843 Joseph Bradshaw Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Ex.d from Bill of Sale was recorded 30 June 1843 to wit Harry Johnson Know all men by these presents that I Henry Johnson Coloured man of Dorchester County for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & ten dollars current money to me in hand paid by Joseph Bradshaw of Dorchester County at or before the Sealing |
