(2)   Upon approval by the State Board of Education of a
County's plan, a County Board shall receive a share of the
funds available for targeted poverty grants that is

                 proportional to its share of the statewide number of
children living in poverty.

(3)   Grants to individual schools shall not exceed $1,500 for
each student living in poverty attending the school
receiving the grant.

(4)  In selecting the schools, the County Board shall give
priority to schools with the highest concentration of
students living in poverty;

(5)   Grants made under this appropriation may not be used to
supplant existing funding for compensatory education
programs.

36.01.02.13 Innovative Programs

To become available . immediately upon
passage of this budget to adjust the
appropriation for fiscal year 1994 to provide
funds for incentive grants to six Local
Education         Agencies         (LEA's)         -

Montgomery, Anne Arundel, Calvert,
Howard, and Allegany Counties, and
Baltimore City - to study, plan, and/or
implement year-round education programs.
A 20% match is also required from each of
the LEA's.
