WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                               Ch. 6

(2)      THE DORCHESTER COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING, INC.;

(3)      THE SOMERSET COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING, INC.;

(4)      THE WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING, INC.; AND

(5)      THE WORCESTER COUNTY COMMISSION ON AGING, INC.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 73B, § 10-101(b).

The only changes are in style.

(C)     EFFECTIVE DATE.

"EFFECTIVE DATE" MEANS THE DATE THAT AN ELIGIBLE GOVERNMENTAL
UNIT COMMENCED OR COMMENCES PARTICIPATION IN AN EMPLOYEES' SYSTEM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to avoid the
repetition of the lengthy reference to "the date that an eligible governmental
unit commenced or commences participation in an employees' system".

Throughout this subtitle, references to "effective" dates are substituted for
former references to "approval" dates for accuracy. A legislative body of an
eligible governmental unit may approve participation some time before that
participation takes effect.

Defined terms: "Eligible governmental unit" § 31-101
"Employees' system" § 31-101

(D)     ELIGIBLE GOVERNMENTAL UNIT.

"ELIGIBLE GOVERNMENTAL UNIT" MEANS A GOVERNMENTAL UNIT THAT IS
ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EMPLOYEES' SYSTEMS UNDER § 31-102 OF THIS
SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to avoid the repetition
of the lengthy reference to "a governmental unit that is eligible to participate
in the employees' systems".

Defined term: "Employees' system" § 31-101

(E)     EMPLOYEE.

(1)     "EMPLOYEE" MEANS AN EMPLOYEE OF AN ELIGIBLE
GOVERNMENTAL UNIT.

(2)      "EMPLOYEE" INCLUDES AN OFFICER OF AN ELIGIBLE
GOVERNMENTAL UNIT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, § 10-101(c).
