Also in subsection (b) of this section, the former reference to a "contributing"
member is deleted as inaccurate in connection with the members of the
pension systems and unnecessary for members of the retirement systems.

In subsection (c)(1) of this section, the reference to the "effective date" of an
election is added for consistency with subsection (a) of this section.

Also in subsection (c)(1) of this section, the former reference to "interest" on
accumulated contributions is deleted as unnecessary. The term "accumulated
contributions" by definition includes "regular interest". See §
20-101(b)(2)(iii) of this article.

In subsection (c)(2) of this section, the former reference to a "vested" benefit
is deleted as included in the comprehensive reference to "a benefit" in the
employee's State system.

Subsection (e) codifies formerly uncodified provision § 2 of Ch. 428; Acts of
1993, because of the widespread and ongoing effect of the provision.

In subsection (e) of this section, the reference to "October 1, 1993", is added
to reflect the effective date of Ch. 428, § 2, Acts of 1993:
