Former Art. 73B, § 9-101(d), which defined "[f]ormer judge", is deleted as
unnecessary because the term "former member" is used throughout this title
in all but one instance. See § 27-201(b) of this title for the only use of the term
"former judge".

27-102. SCOPE OF TITLE.

THIS TITLE APPLIES ONLY TO THE JUDGES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to clarify the applicability
of this title.

27-103. CONSTRUCTION OF TITLE.

THIS TITLE DOES NOT IMPAIR OR REDUCE ANY BENEFIT THAT A FORMER
MEMBER OR RETIREE OR A SPOUSE OF A MEMBER, FORMER MEMBER, OR RETIREE
HAS BEEN OR WOULD BE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE UNDER ANY PUBLIC GENERAL
LAW.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, § 9-103.

The former specific reference to a "pension" is deleted as included in the
broad reference to a "benefit".

The reference to a spouse "of a member, former member, or retiree" is added
for clarity.

As to the substitution of the references to "former member" and "retiree", for
the former reference to "former judge", see General Revisor's Note to this
title.

SUBTITLE 2. MEMBERSHIP.

27-201. MEMBERSHIP.

(A) IN GENERAL.

THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS ARE MEMBERS OF THE JUDGES' RETIREMENT
SYSTEM:

(1)      A JUDGE OF THE COURT OF APPEALS, COURT OF SPECIAL APPEALS,
CIRCUIT COURT OF A COUNTY, OR DISTRICT COURT OF MARYLAND;

(2)      A MEMBER OF THE STATE WORKERS' COMPENSATION COMMISSION;

AND

(3)      A MASTER IN CHANCERY OR MASTER IN JUVENILE CAUSES WHO:
