In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to. service credit "for which the
member is not otherwise entitled", which formerly only modified previous
employment with a municipal corporation of the State, is revised to cover any
type of previous employment for which service credit may be purchased under
this section to clarify that a member may not receive duplicate service credit
for the same period of employment regardless of the employer.

In subsection (b)(1)(i) of this section, the reference to filing a claim "on the
form that the Board of Trustees provides" is added for clarity, consistent with
the practice of the Board of Trustees.

In subsection (b)(1)(ii) of this section, the reference to "the Board of
Trustees" is added to clarify to whom the payment is to be made.

In subsection (b)(2)(i) of this section, the reference to "a single payment" is
substituted for the former reference to "an amount" to conform to other
similar provisions in this Division II. See, e.g., § 24-306 of this article.

In subsection (b)(2)(ii) of this section, the defined term "earnable
compensation" is substituted for the former reference to "annual salary per
year" for accuracy.

25-307. CREDITABLE SERVICE.

(A)     TYPES OF SERVICE CREDIT.

CREDITABLE SERVICE ON WHICH THE ALLOWANCE OF A MEMBER IS BASED
CONSISTS OF:

(1)      ELIGIBILITY SERVICE, EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBSECTION (B) OF
THIS SECTION; AND

(2)      CREDIT FOR UNUSED SICK LEAVE AS PROVIDED IN § 20-206 OF THIS
ARTICLE.

(B)     PART-TIME SERVICE.

A MEMBER'S CREDITABLE SERVICE FOR A PERIOD OF REGULAR PART-TIME
EMPLOYMENT EQUALS THE MEMBER'S ACTUAL EMPLOYMENT DURING THAT
PERIOD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, § 7-301(b)(4)(ii) and the second sentence of (i),
and, as it related to creditable service, (a).
