In item (1) of this section, the word "separated" is substituted for the former
reference to being "absent" from employment, for consistency with Division I
of this article. No substantive change is intended by this change in
terminology. However, the State Personnel and Pensions Article Review
Committee notes, for consideration by the General Assembly, that this item
may be ambiguous with respect to long-term unpaid leaves of absence.

The only other changes are in style.

SUBTITLE 3. SERVICE CREDIT.

25-301. IN GENERAL.

A MEMBER IS ENTITLED TO:

(1)      ELIGIBILITY SERVICE AS PROVIDED IN §§ 25-303 THROUGH 25-306 OF
THIS SUBTITLE; AND

(2)      CREDITABLE SERVICE AS PROVIDED IN § 25-307 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added for clarity and to conform
to other similar provisions elsewhere in this Division II.

Throughout this subtitle, references to "eligibility service" are substituted for
references to "creditable service" in provisions that relate to service credit to
be recognized to determine eligibility for a benefit. See General Revisor's
Note to this Division II.

25-302. SERVICE CREDIT — RULES FOR COMPUTATION.

(A)     REGULATIONS.

SUBJECT TO SUBSECTIONS (B) AND (C) OF THIS SECTION, THE BOARD OF
TRUSTEES SHALL ADOPT REGULATIONS THAT SPECIFY THE PERIOD OF
EMPLOYMENT IN A YEAR THAT IS EQUAL TO 1 YEAR OF SERVICE CREDIT.

(B)      MAXIMUM FOR EACH YEAR.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MAY NOT ALLOW MORE THAN 1 YEAR OF SERVICE
CREDIT FOR A CALENDAR YEAR.

(C)     NORMAL WORKING TIME FOR YEAR.
