(II) PAY TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN A SINGLE PAYMENT THE
MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS THE MEMBER WOULD HAVE MADE FOR THE PERIOD OF
EMPLOYMENT FOR WHICH SERVICE CREDIT IS BEING PURCHASED PLUS REGULAR
INTEREST TO THE DATE OF PAYMENT.

(2) A MEMBER MAY PAY FOR SERVICE CREDIT PURCHASED UNDER
THIS SECTION AT ANY TIME BEFORE RETIREMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, § 6-303.

In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to service credit "for which the
member is not otherwise entitled" is added to clarify that a member may not
receive duplicate service credit for the same period of employment.

In subsection (b)(l)(i) of this section, the reference to "complet[ing] a claim
for the service credit and fil[ing] it with the Board of Trustees on the form that
the Board of Trustees provides" is added to state expressly that which
formerly only was implied - he., a completed claim must be filed in order to
regain the service credit.

In subsection (b)(1)(ii) of this section, the reference to payment to "the Board
of Trustees" is added to clarify to whom the payment is to be made.

24-306. SAME — PURCHASE OF SERVICE CREDIT BY PAYMENT OF FULL COST.

(A)     IN GENERAL.

A MEMBER MAY PURCHASE SERVICE CREDIT AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION
FOR PERIODS OF EMPLOYMENT DESCRIBED IN SUBSECTION (C) OF THIS SECTION
FOR WHICH THE MEMBER IS NOT OTHERWISE ENTITLED TO SERVICE CREDIT.

(B)      PAYMENT FOR SERVICE CREDIT.

(1) A MEMBER WHO PURCHASES SERVICE CREDIT UNDER THIS SECTION
SHALL:

(I)       COMPLETE A CLAIM FOR THE SERVICE CREDIT AND FILE IT
WITH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ON THE FORM THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
PROVIDES; AND

(II)     PAY TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE
ANNUITY RESERVE AND PENSION RESERVE REQUIRED TO FUND THE ADDITIONAL
ALLOWANCE.
