H.B. 362

This bill would authorize the location of additional or expanded community piers in a
"buffer" of the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area when certain requirements are met and
would provide for a calculation of the number of slips permitted in a buffer.

Senate Bill 332, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 26,
1994, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 362.

AN ACT concerning

Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Protection Program - Community Piers - Calculation of

Number of Slips

FOR the purpose of authorizing a permit for a new or expanded community pier or for
certain other boating facilities in the buffer area under certain circumstances;
requiring certain numbers or certain percentages of slips in accordance with certain
numbers of platted lots or dwellings in the critical area; authorizing local
jurisdictions to grant a variance in accordance with certain regulations; requiring
local jurisdictions to amend local critical area protection programs to conform with
the provisions of this Act by a certain date; defining certain terms; providing for the
application of this Act; and generally relating to community piers and the
calculation of the number of slips under the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area
Protection Program.

AN AREA ESTABLISHED IN VEGETATION AND MANAGED TO PROTECT AQUATIC,
WETLANDS, SHORELINE, AND TERRESTRIAL ENVIRONMENTS FROM MAN-MADE
DISTURBANCES.
