(II) A COPY OF THE PROTECTIVE ORDER SHALL ALSO BE SENT TO
THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS OF THE RESPONDENT BY FIRST CLASS MAIL.

(2) (3) [Return] IF THE RESPONDENT IS SERVED BY A LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, CONSTABLE, OR SHERIFF, A RETURN of service shall be filed
with the court.

(b) (1) If the District Court grants or denies relief under a petition filed under
this subtitle, a respondent, any person eligible for relief, or a petitioner may appeal to [or
file a petition for modification in] the circuit court [of] FOR the county where the
District Court is located.

(2)     An appeal [or a petition for modification] taken under this subsection
to the circuit court shall be heard de novo in the circuit court.

(3)     If an appeal [or a petition for modification] is filed under this
[subsection] SUBSECTION, the District Court [is deprived of jurisdiction] JUDGMENT
SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL SUPERSEDED BY A JUDGMENT OF THE CIRCUIT
COURT. UNLESS THE CIRCUIT COURT ORDERS OTHERWISE, MODIFICATION OR
ENFORCEMENT OF THE DISTRICT COURT ORDER SHALL BE BY THE DISTRICT
COURT.

[(a)]The temporary ex parte order and protective order issued under this subtitle
shall state that [violations] A VIOLATION of the order may result in:

(1)     a finding of contempt;

(2)     criminal prosecution; and

(3)     imprisonment or fine or both.                                           

[(b) No additional filing fee may be charged a petitioner who seeks enforcement in
a circuit court of an order entered by the District Court.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.
