(16) ONE REPRESENTATIVE OF A PUBLIC POSTSECONDARY SCHOOL IN
MARYLAND.

(C)     THE GOVERNOR SHALL DESIGNATE THE CHAIRMAN OF THE TASK FORCE.

(D)     THE DIRECTOR OF THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH
DISABILITIES SHALL DESIGNATE DEAF SPECIALISTS OR OTHER QUALIFIED
INDIVIDUALS TO STAFF THE TASK FORCE.

(E)     A MEMBER OF THE TASK FORCE MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION BUT
IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES UNDER THE STANDARD STATE
TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN THE STATE BUDGET.

(F)      THE TASK FORCE SHALL:

(1)      EXAMINE HOW CUED SPEECH AND AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE,
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, AND THE ORAL METHOD OF COMMUNICATION IS TAUGHT
IN MARYLAND;

(2)      EXAMINE HOW CUED SPEECH AND AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE,
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, AND THE ORAL METHOD OF COMMUNICATION IS TAUGHT
IN OTHER STATES;

(3)      DETERMINE WHETHER THE USE OF CUED SPEECH AND AMERICAN
SIGN LANGUAGE AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, AND THE ORAL METHOD OF
COMMUNICATION
SHOULD BE EXPANDED IN MARYLAND PUBLIC SCHOOLS;

(4)      DETERMINE WHETHER INTERPRETERS SHOULD BE PROVIDED IN
COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES IN MARYLAND FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE
RECEIVED THEIR ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION USING CUED SPEECH
OR AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE , AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, OR THE ORAL METHOD;

(5)      DETERMINE WHETHER PERSONS WHO ARE TAUGHT CUED SPEECH
CAN COOPERATE WITH PERSONS WHO ARE TAUGHT SIGN LANGUAGE OR TOTAL
COMMUNICATION;

(6)      DETERMINE WHETHER PERSONS WHO ARE TAUGHT CUED SPEECH
CAN COOPERATE WITH PERSONS WHO ARE TAUGHT THE ORAL METHOD;

(5) DETERMINE WHETHER TO WHAT EXTENT PERSONS WHO ARE DEAF
AND WHO ARE TAUGHT BY THE VARIOUS METHODS SUCH AS CUED SPEECH, SIGN
LANGUAGE, OR THE ORAL METHOD CAN COOPERATE WITH EACH OTHER;

(7) (6) DEVELOP A PLAN FOR EXPANDING THE USE OF CUED SPEECH
AND AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE, AND THE ORAL
METHOD OF COMMUNICATION
IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, IF SUCH EXPANSION IS DEEMED
APPROPRIATE;

(8) (7) DEVELOP A PLAN FOR EXPANDING THE USE OF CUED SPEECH
INTERPRETERS TRANSLITERATORS AND, AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE AND ORAL
TRANSLATORS AT THE COLLEGE AND POSTSECONDARY LEVEL, IF SUCH EXPANSION
IS DEEMED APPROPRIATE; AND
