Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 364.

This bill would require the use of an intake sheet, on a form provided by the
Administrative Office of the Courts, to record certain types of land instruments, and
provide that a clerk of the court may not charge a fee for recording the intake sheet.

House Bill 918, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 2,
1994, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 364.

AN ACT concerning

Recordation and Indexing - Required Information

FOR the purpose of requiring an intake sheet to accompany certain instruments
presented to clerks of circuit courts for recordation in land records; exempting
certain instruments; providing for the form and contents of intake sheets; requiring
clerks to index certain property identifiers provided on intake sheets; requiring
clerks to rely on instruments for indexing of grantor's and grantee's names;
providing for the effect of intake sheets; repealing certain provisions of law relating
to indexing of land records in Baltimore County; and generally relating to the
recordation and indexing of instruments in land records.
