"BASIC ALLOWANCE" MEANS AN ALLOWANCE COMPUTED WITHOUT
MODIFICATION UNDER § 21-403 OF THIS ARTICLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection., is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, §§ 2-404(f)(l)(i), 3-404(f)(l), 4-404(c)(2)(i),
5-404(c)(2)(i), 6-403(f)(1)(i), 7-404(f)(l)(i), and 8-402(c)(2)(i).

The term "basic allowance" is substituted for "retirement allowance" since
"retirement allowance" is defined differently under subsection (jj) of this
section.

Defined term: "Allowance" § 20-101

(I) BENEFICIARY.

"BENEFICIARY" MEANS A PERSON, OTHER THAN A RETIREE, IN RECEIPT OF A
BENEFIT UNDER THIS DIVISION II.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, § 1-101(g).

The references to a "pension", "annuity", and "retirement "allowance" are
deleted as included in the broader reference to a "benefit under this Division
II".

"Retiree" § 20-101                                                 

(J) BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

"BOARD OF TRUSTEES" MEANS THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE STATE
RETIREMENT AND PENSION SYSTEM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 73B, § 1-101(h).

The former phrase "provided for in § 1-103 of this subtitle to administer the
several systems" is deleted as surplusage.

The only other changes are in style.

(K) CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

"CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM" MEANS THE
CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added to avoid repetition of
the longer title of the system.

(L) COUNTY.

"COUNTY" MEANS A COUNTY OF THE STATE AND, UNLESS EXPRESSLY
PROVIDED OTHERWISE, BALTIMORE CITY.
