1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

The only other changes are in style.

(B)      ACCUMULATED CONTRIBUTIONS.

(1)      "ACCUMULATED CONTRIBUTIONS" MEANS THE AMOUNTS
CREDITED TO A MEMBER'S INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT IN THE ANNUITY SAVINGS FUND
OF THE APPROPRIATE STATE SYSTEM.

(2)      "ACCUMULATED CONTRIBUTIONS" INCLUDES:

(I)       MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS;

(II)     ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS; AND

(III)    REGULAR INTEREST.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 73B, § 1-101(b).

In paragraph (2) of this subsection, the reference to "member contributions"
is substituted for the former references to "[a]mounts deducted from the
compensation of a member" and "[e]mployer pickup contribution's" for
brevity. See definition of "member contribution" in this section.

(C)     ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTION.

"ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTION" MEANS A CONTRIBUTION THAT IS:

(1)      MADE VOLUNTARILY BY A MEMBER; OR

(2)      DESIGNATED AS AN ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTION UNDER § 22-212
OR § 22-213 OF THIS ARTICLE.

Defined term: "Member" § 20-101

(D)     ALLOWANCE.

"ALLOWANCE" MEANS A BENEFIT THAT IS PAYABLE IN EQUAL MONTHLY
INSTALLMENTS FOR THE LIFE OF THE RECIPIENT, EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE
PROVIDED FOR AN OPTIONAL FORM OF AN ALLOWANCE UNDER § 21-403 OF THIS
ARTICLE.
