(2) Nothing in this article shall be construed to make it unlawful to conduct
or operate a game or games of bingo in Calvert County pursuant to this section.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1994, contingent on the taking effect of Chapter _______H.B. 1674) of the

Acts of the General Assembly of 1994, and if Chapter ________does not become

effective, this Act shall be null and void without the necessity of further action by the
General Assembly.

AN ACT concerning

Allegany County Sheriff's Office - Collective Bargaining Rights

FOR the purpose of expanding the scope of issues subject to collective bargaining
between the Sheriff of Allegany County and a labor organization representing
certain employees; authorizing nonbinding mediation during the collective
bargaining process at the request of the Sheriff or labor organization through the
Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service; providing that arbitration concerning
the interpretation or application of a written agreement is nonbinding for certain
purposes; and generally relating to the Sheriffs office of Allegany County and
collective bargaining matters and procedures.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 2-309(b)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

2-309.

(b) (1) The Sheriff of Allegany County shall receive the salary set by the County
Commissioners in accordance with Article 24, Title 11, Subtitle 1 of the Code.

(2) The Sheriff shall appoint not less than five deputies at salaries of at least
$2,400 each who are under the county classified service; one of these deputies shall be
assigned by the Sheriff to execute process, orders, and directions for the juvenile court,
and to perform the other duties the Sheriff assigns.
