Section 19-350

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Health - General
19-350.
(a) (1) This section applies only to:
(1) (I) Related institutions that are classified as nursing homes AS
DEFINED IN § 19-301 (L) OF THIS SUBTITLE; and
(2) (II) Hospitals that are not operated by this State or any of its political
subdivisions AS DEFINED IN § 19-301(E) OF THIS SUBTITLE,
(2) NOTHING IN THIS SECTION SHALL APPLY TO CHARGES FOR SERVICES
THAT ARE SET PURSUANT TO § 16-201 OF THIS ARTICLE.
(b) (1) [On demand of an individual made within 30 days] WITHIN 30 DAYS
after discharge of the AN individual from a hospital, the hospital shall give the individual
a SUMMARY financial statement that CLEARLY DESCRIBES:
(1) (I) THE TOTAL CHARGES INCURRED;
(2) THE BALANCE ON THE ACCOUNT;
(3) (2) (II) IF READILY ASCERTAINABLE, A LIST OF TOTAL CHARGES
IN EACH OF THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES A SUMMARY OF THE TOTAL CHARGES
UNDER THE MAJOR SERVICES CATEGORIES, INCLUDING:
(I) 1. ROOM AND BOARD;
(II) 2. DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES;
(III) 3. THERAPEUTIC SERVICES;
(IV) 4. EMERGENCY ROOM SERVICES;
(V) 5. PRESCRIPTIONS DRUGS AND IV SOLUTIONS; AND
(VI) 6. MISCELLANEOUS OTHER SUPPLIES AND SERVICES;
(4) (3) (III) INSURANCE CLAIMS FILED OR TO BE FILED ON THE
INDIVIDUAL'S BEHALF, INCLUDING THE NAME OF THE INSURER AND THE DATE THE
CLAIM WAS OR WILL BE FILED IF APPLICABLE, THE NAME OF THE PRIMARY AND
SECONDARY INSURER TO WHICH A CLAIM HAS BEEN OR WILL BE FILED ON THE
INDIVIDUAL'S BEHALF; AND
