Ch. 663                                    1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 17. 18. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 8 of this Act
shall take effect October 1, 1994. It shall remain effective for a period of eleven years and,
at the end of September 30, 2005, with no further action required by the General
Assembly, Section 8 of this Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and effect.

SECTION 19. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 9 of this Act shall
take effect at that time when Section 8 of this Act no longer has any force or effect.

SECTION 18. 20. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 9 10 of this
Act shall take effect June 1, 1995.

SECTION 19. 21. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 10 11 of this
Act shall take effect June 1, 2004.

SECTION 20. 22. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, except for Sections 8,
9, 10, and 40 11, this Act shall take effect October 1, 1994.

(House Bill 1343)

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Fire and Emergency Personnel - Lights on Private Vehicles

FOR the purpose of authorizing the privately owned vehicles of certain volunteer fire and
emergency personnel to be equipped with certain red lights or signal devices and
authorizing the lights to be displayed only while on route to or at the scene of an
emergency; authorizing the fire police of volunteer fire companies to have their
privately owned vehicles equipped with certain red lights or signal devices which
may be operated only while on the scene of an emergency; repealing certain
provisions relating to the use of amber lights on the private vehicles of certain fire
personnel in Harford County; authorizing the privately owned vehicles of certain
out-of-state emergency personnel to display certain lights and signal devices in this
State under certain circumstances; clarifying language; and generally relating to the
lights and signal devices on private vehicles used by certain emergency personnel.
