held and enjoyed by the inhabitants of Prince George's County If the boundary between
Montgomery County and Prince George's County is altered as provided in this Act, the
inhabitants of that part of the City of Takoma Park formerly located in Montgomery
County cease to have any claim to or interest in any county property belonging to
Montgomery County
If a majority of the votes cast in the election are "For Alteration of the Prince
George's County/Montgomery County Boundary to Place All of Takoma Park in
Montgomery County", that part of the City of Takoma Park located in Prince George's
County on the date of the municipal election in November, 1995 shall be a part of
Montgomery County, effective on July 1, 1997, and the inhabitants shall have and enjoy
all the lights and privileges as are held and enjoyed by the inhabitants of Montgomery
County If the boundary between Montgomery County and Prince George's County is
altered as provided in this Act, the inhabitants of that part of the City of Takoma Park
formerly located in Prince George's County cease to have any claim to or interest in any
county property belonging to Prince George's County However, if a majority of votes in
both referenda held under this Act are cast in favor of changing the boundary between
Montgomery County and Prince George's County, this Act is null and void If a majority
of votes in both referenda held under this Act are cast against changing the boundary
between Montgomery County and Prince George's County, this Act is also null and void
SECTION 4 AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, if the county boundary is
altered under this Act to place all of the City of Takoma Park in Montgomery County
(1) The boundary alteration does not in any way affect the validity, meaning,
effect, or other legal consequence of any conveyance, will, mortgage, contract, or other
document executed before the alteration
(2) Any building in the part of the City of Takoma Park formerly located in Prince
George's County that complies with the building code and the other laws and regulations
of Prince George's County before the effective date of boundary alteration is not deemed
to be in violation, after the boundary alteration, of the codes, laws, or regulations of
Montgomery County existing on the effective date of the boundary alteration
(3) Any proposed or partially completed building in the part of the City of
Takoma Park formerly located in Prince George's County for which a building permit has
been issued may be completed after the effective date of the boundary alteration in
accordance with the codes, laws and regulations of Prince George's County
(4) All zoning classifications in the part of the City of Takoma Park formerly
located in Prince George's County shall remain in effect until changed by the appropriate
Montgomery County governmental authority
(5) (i) Except as provided in subparagraph (ii) of this paragraph, all licenses
and franchises shall remain in effect and valid until they expire by their own terms or are
modified or terminated by the appropriate Montgomery County governmental authority
